In Japanese culture, the heart shape is called “Inome” or eye of wild pig and was believed to protect from evil. In Buddhism, it is the shape of the leaves on the tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment. Mr. Yutaka Ono combines these meanings with the western heart symbol representing love in his beautiful and colorful heart shaped matcha bowls. We are happy to bring these hand-made works from this award winning popular artist to you.
MATSU KAZE TEA visited Mr. Yutaka Ono’s studio in 2019 and we are the official importer of hand made matcha bowls in Canada. We selected his signature heart shaped ‘Inome’ matcha bowls are shipped in a classic Japanese paulownia box with the artist’s hand written calligraphy autograph.
