This matcha bowl from Kyoto follows the design of Tenmoku Chawan imported from China from the 13th to 16th centuries. Its black glaze contains high amounts of iron to create the wonderful rich color which contrasts with the bright green matcha tea. Kyo-ware was designated traditional crafts in 1977.
