These dazzling handcrafted kirameki (sparkle) glasses from Niigata by Mr. Tokuma are made by meticulously hammering glass balls into a layer of clear glass at very high heat. The glass balls are arranged in twelve columns of five rows in clear glass with five rows in four columns of coloured glass between for a total of 108 glass balls embedded. This process requires perfect execution. The result is a prism effect that sparkles in light. Dazzling visually, these glasses are also designed to provide a comfortable texture and grip.
These multipurpose glasses are good for any beverage and work well for both hot and cold-brewed tea. The glass is thick and heat resistant. These glasses are also dishwasher safe and microwavable.
As they are handcrafted and completely unique, each glass is a slightly different size and they come in a variety of colours including: brown and red, gradations of blue, blue and purple, amber, blue and green and yellow and green.
Each glass comes in a traditional kiribako (paulownia) protective wooden box with Mr. Tokuma’s signature in calligraphy. Choose one or make a set.
