Yuzamashi is a Japanese water-cooling pitcher or water cooler. It is used to lower the temperature of hot water for steeping teas, especially for high-end sencha and gyokuro. This traditional red clay ceramic yuzamashi is Tokoname-ware from Aichi prefecture. It is unglazed ceramic yet has a beautiful polished smooth texture. It has a side handle like Japanese kyusu teapots for easy pouring.
