This classic, handcrafted Tokoname-ware kokudei (black clay) yuzamashi (water cooler) from Aichi prefecture has a brownish black colour (kokudei). Yuzamashi is a Japanese water-cooling pitcher or water cooler. It is used to lower the temperature of hot water for steeping teas, especially for high-end sencha, gyokuro and kabusecha. This yuzamashi is made with unglazed ceramics yet has a beautiful polished, smooth texture. It has a side handle like Japanese kyusu teapots for easy pouring and a no-drip spout. Goes well with the Kyusu Teapot Tokoname Kokudei - Hiratsuba.
