This medium sized porcelain Arita-ware kyusu (teapot) with a side handle is from Saga. It is a traditional stylish mizutama (polka dot) teapot with a nostalgic retro blue glaze with white dots as was common in Showa-era (1926-1989) Japan. This iconic teaware was very popular for everyday teatime and casual dining around 1965. It comes with two teacups (yunomi) and both a built-in toumaru (half ball shape) porcelain strainer and a removable stainless steel strainer. The porcelain makes this kyusu set dishwasher safe. You can enjoy steeping not only sencha but also genmaicha and houjicha for casual teatime or with a meal.
