This handcrafted, palm-sized shiboridashi (“squeeze out”) Tokoname unglazed teapot from the Gyokkou kiln is designed for gyokuro, as well as high-end sencha and kabusecha teas. It has no handle and is made for lower temperature, slower brewing. The shallow design allows the tealeaves to fully open with a small amount of water and the lid is used to strain the tealeaves when pouring. Beautiful shu-sujihiki (“red clay with lines”) circles characterize the exterior and provide texture. Iron from the clay is infused with your teas.
Black Tokoname clay version: Hohin Teapot Tokoname - Shiboridashi Koku-sujihiki (60 mL).
